OCEAN COUNTY - A Code Blue Weather Emergency has been extended in Ocean County through Monday night, officials said.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are anticipated to drop into the mid-20s overnight through Dec. 19. The code blue has been in effect since last Monday, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

In Ocean County, a code blue declaration is issued when dangerously cold weather threatens individuals or families without shelter. The county provides short-term sheltering in clean, safe locations during the declaration.

Those seeking shelter in a warming center should contact their local municipality for more details.

According to NJ211, warming center services are available at the Ocean County Board of Social Services (Toms River), Truce Vine Ministry (Bayville), Greater Bethel Church of God (Lakewood) and more.
