Flooding Closes Roads, Shuts 1 School In Northern Ocean County
Low-lying roads around Barnegat Bay have flooded due to heavy rain. Tidal flooding remains possible in the afternoon, forecasters warn.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Flooding caused by heavy rain since Sunday afternoon continues to affect numerous roads in northern Ocean County on Monday morning, forcing one town to close its school.
Bay Head police said extreme flooding in the borough forced the town to close Bay Head School for the day. Bridge Avenue was closed, authorities said, and numerous other streets in the borough were flooded.
Also affected by flooding was Beaver Dam Road in Point Pleasant, where police said the southern end of the road was seeing tidal flooding.

Route 35 south in Toms River remains closed as well due to flooding, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Barnegat Bay reached 3.16 feet above flood stage, according to the National Weather Service, in the "moderate" flooding category, as measured by a gauge near the middle of the Mantoloking Bridge. That peak was recorded at 7:06 a.m. and the flood level had fallen to 2.54 feet as of 9:06 a.m.

A coastal flood advisory remains in effect through 4 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said, and another round of flooding is possible around the afternoon high tide in areas right along Barnegat Bay "as water becomes more trapped in the bay," the weather service said.
