Middle School Student Mourned In Brick
The district brought in Traumatic Loss Coalition counselors to provide support to students and staff who knew the boy.
BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township School District is providing support to students, staff members and families in the wake of a student's death over the weekend, a district official said Tuesday.
The boy was a student at Lake Riviera Middle School, said Susan McNamara, the district's director of planning, research and evaluation.
"He was well-liked by his peers and well-liked by his teachers," McNamara said.

The boy has not been identified and his family has not spoken publicly about his death.
The district brought in counselors with the Traumatic Loss Coalition to provide support to students and staff members, she said, along with counselors from Lake Riviera Middle School and the School-Based Youth Services program at Brick Township High School.

The Traumatic Loss Coalition counselors were going to be in the school through the end of the day on Tuesday and would be available on an on-call basis after that, McNamara said.
"All of our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the Lake Riviera community," she said.
