BRICK, NJ — Brick Township police are urging residents to take precautions as severe thunderstorms packing plenty of rain move into the area Thursday.

Strong winds and flash flooding are predicted and a state of emergency is in effect until 6 a.m. Friday.

"Please take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety and the safety of your property," police said, including securing any loose items around to prevent them from being blown away and moving vehicles to higher ground if you live in a flood-prone low-lying area.
