New Gas Leak Prompts Brief Evacuation At Brick Senior Apartments
Days after repairs were completed in all 182 units at the Chambers Bridge Residence, another gas leak happened, police said.

BRICK, NJ — Days after repairs were completed on the heating units at the Chambers Bridge Residence, some of the residents were forced to briefly evacuate again Tuesday evening due to a natural gas leak.
The odor of gas was reported at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday at the apartments at 175 Chambers Bridge Road, Police Officer Victoria Finelli said Wednesday.
New Jersey Natural Gas crews determined the issue was isolated to a heating unit in one apartment. The unit was turned off to make it safe, Finelli said.

The leak follows repairs made late last week at the complex, when a gas leak revealed the wrong step-down valve was on all of the heating units in the building. Heat was shut off to the 182 individual apartments for a week while parts were ordered and repairs made.
The Chambers Bridge Residence is privately owned, by National Church Residences, which purchased the property from Brick Township in 2018. It serves senior citizens.
