See How Much Rain Fell In Brick As River Flooding Alerts Issued
A coastal flood warning is in effect in Brick, in addition to flooding at inland portions of two rivers.
BRICK, NJ — Stormy weather brought much-needed rain to much of Ocean County over the weekend, but in some areas the amount of rainfall has swollen local rivers and streams.
While wildfire concerns are eased by the influx of heavy rain, the National Weather Service issued warnings Monday morning for part of Ocean County as river gauges showed both the north branch of the Metedeconk River and the Manasquan River have risen above flood stage.
"This is in response to the 5 to 7 inches of rain which fell over the weekend," weather service officials said.

In addition, the county is under a coastal flood warning until 6 p.m. Monday. In Brick, Route 35 on the barrier island is flooded at 7th Avenue, as is Broad Avenue, both in the Normandy Beach section. That area floods persistently, and a road elevation project to try to address the flooding is in the works.
The National Weather Service said the Manasquan River was at 15.04 feet as of 11:15 a.m. at Allenwood, near the Brick border with Wall Township. Flood stage is 14.5 feet, weather service officials said.

The National Weather Service Mount Holly office had two rainfall totals reported for Brick. One was 4.88 inches and the second was 3.92 inches. There were no details on where in the township those reports came from.
In Lakewood, a high of 5.68 inches of rain was reported, and in southern Howell, the highest total was more than 6 inches, both of which will continue to run off into the two rivers.
