WindMill Aiming To Return To Brick After Nearly 5 Years

The popular hot dog restaurant has an application before the Brick Township Planning Board seeking some approvals.

BRICK, NJ — Nearly five years after closing its Brick Township store, WindMill is aiming to bring its hot dogs back to Ocean County.

The restaurant has an application before the Brick Township Planning Board seeking approval to convert the former T-Mobile store on Route 70 to a space with indoor and outdoor seating, according to the application on the township's website.

The application was scheduled to be heard at the Feb. 14 planning board meeting but the hearing was not completed and the matter was carried to the March 13 meeting, according to Pamela O'Neill, the planning board secretary.

The proposal would turn the former T-Mobile store, a 1,032-square-foot standalone building in the lot between Route 70 and Route 88, into a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The use is permitted in the B-3 zone, but the addition of outdoor seating needs to be approved.

The site is across the street from the previous site WindMill occupied in Brick for more than 30 years, before it shut down in 2019. Read more: The WindMill Hot Dog Restaurant Closes Brick Location
