Democrats Win Bridgewater Township Council Race: 2025 Election Results Certified

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — It's a wrap for the 2025 election in Somerset County.

On Wednesday, the Somerset County Clerk's Office confirmed that the results from the general election had been certified following Election Day, which took place on Nov. 4.

Bridgewater voters cast ballots for two local races — the town council and the board of education.

Bridgewater Township Council:

Republicans have remained in control of the Bridgewater Township Council for the past 37 years. Now, Democrats are breaking this hold.

Democrats Joan Geiger, Andrew Bucko, and Ridwana Isla bested longtime Republican incumbents Allen Kurdyla and Filipe Pedroso, along with newcomer and Mayor Matthew Moench's sister, Megan Moench.

Here are the final vote tallies:

• Joan Geiger - Democrat - 10,609
• Andrew Bucko - Democrat - 10,352
• Ridwana Isla - Democrat - 10,171
• Allen Kurdyla - Republican - 9,119
• Filipe Pedroso - Republican - 8,921
• Meghan Moench - Republican - 8,567

Bridgewater-Raritan Board Of Education:

On the school board front, incumbent Steven Singer along with Lanfang "Lucy" Li and newcomer James Maloney have claimed victories in the election over Emily Calistri, Ketrin Maxwell, Deanna Nye, and Kim Fajardo.

Somerset County Board of County Commissioners:

• Melonie Marano - Democrat* - 78,664
• Nick Cuozzo - Republican - 56,268

Somerset County Board of County Commissioners:

• Michelle Mayorga - Republican - 55,359
• Elizabeth Graner - Democrat - 78,517

Somerset County Sheriff:

• Darrin Russo - Democrat* - 80,547
• Michael Manochio - Republican - 54,872

Somerset County Surrogate:

• Bernice "Tina" Jalloh - Democrat* - 78,048
• Chris Corsini - Republican - 55,814
