5 Bridgewater Police Officers Honored For Heroic acts

The officers were recently honored during the 200 Club of Somerset County's 49th annual Valor Dinner

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Five Bridgewater police officers were recently recognized for their bravery, quick thinking and putting their lives on the line to save others.

On Friday, Oct. 7, Sgt. Bernhard, Sgt. Brittain and Officers DiGraziano, Kaczynski and Knapp were awarded the Somerset County 200 Club Valor Award for their actions during an active shooter incident in Dec. 2019.

According to the police department, while taking fire, the officers rescued a wife and children from a life threatening event.

"During this incident, their training and experience, as well as others, helped save and protect the lives of our community exemplifying our motto, 'Dedicated to service, Committed to Community,'" the police department said.
