ICYMI: Boy Hit By Bridgewater School Bus, Hospitalized: Police

The boy had just been dropped off by the bus before he ran into the street and was hit by it, police say.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A 12-year-old boy was hit by a school bus Tuesday, May 21, after running into the street, according to a release from the Bridgewater Police Department.

Soon before 4 p.m., the boy was dropped off by the Bridgewater-Raritan district bus at the intersection of Traci Road and Marsillo Court. He began running west on the sidewalk north of Traci, the same direction as the bus driver's next stop.

As the driver, a 68-year-old Raritan woman, continued driving her route, the boy ran into the road and was hit by the bus, the release says. She was not charged.

His injuries were non life-threatening, police said, according to an NJ.com report.

The boy was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. His condition was not made available immediately.

The Bridgewater Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau is investigating.
