Bridgewater Baseball to Honor Boston Bombing Victim

Players will be wearing patches to honor 8-year-old Martin Richard.

Bridgewater Baseball & Softball is preparing to honor Boston Marathon bombing victim Martin Richard by wearing memorial patches throughout the entire season.

Eight-year-old Richard was one of the three victims of the attack that also injured close to 200 people. His message, according to a release from Bridgewater Baseball & Softball, was to stop violence and bring peace into the world.

Richard leaves behind his parents, Bill and Denise, and sister Jane, of Dorchester, Massachusetts. His mother and sister sustained serious injuries in the bombings.

“One of Martin’s passions was baseball,” said Anthony Costello, of Bridgewater Baseball & Softball, in the release. “As most of you can relate, one of the joys as a parent is to watch your son and/or daughter play in local sports. The Richard family forever lost that opportunity, but we have a chance to keep the Richard family in our hearts throughout this baseball season.”

The players will be wearing Richard Martin (2005-2013) Memorial patches all season.
