Bridgewater Man Driving With Missing Tire Charged With DWI: Blotter

The Raritan Police blotter for October included multiple arrests for driving while intoxicated, trespassing, theft, and more.

RARITAN, NJ — A Bridgewater man found driving with a missing tire were among those charged with driving while intoxicated in Raritan, according to the Raritan Police blotter.

On Oct. 10 at 5:35 p.m., Steven Maffei, 60, of Bridgewater, was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 28.

Maffei was stopped after officers saw him driving with a missing tire on his vehicle.

Officers then learned that just before being stopped, Maffei had been involved in a motor vehicle accident with a FedEx truck on Route 28 at First Ave, said police.

Maffei was released pending a court appearance.

Other Raritan Police blotter items:

On Oct. 3: Army Alvarez, 33 of the Bronx, was arrested and charged with identity theft stemming from a report made to our officers on Sept. 9. A victim reported fraudulent activity on his Verizon account. An investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division uncovered four additional victims throughout the state. Alvarez was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

On Oct. 7 at 7:30 a.m.: Shane Youngman, of Raritan, was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension and possession of a controlled dangerous substance following a pedestrian stop on East Somerset Street. An officer recognized Youngman as he was walking in the street and was aware that Youngman had a warrant for his arrest. Youngman was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

On Oct. 7 at 11:29 a.m.: Erika Anderson, 57, of Leonardo, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipes) following a traffic stop on First Ave. Anderson was released pending a court appearance.

On Oct. 10: Julie Mount, 51, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was charged with theft by deception after a victim reported he was scammed out of $2,900 by a person who had reached out to him via LinkedIn with a job opportunity. A warrant has been issued for Mount’s arrest as a result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division.

On Oct. 12 at 10:07 a.m.: Jamal Hanna, 40, of Raritan, was arrested for trespassing at the Quick Chek on West Somerset Street. Hanna had been previously given a trespassing warning at the business. Hanna was released pending a court appearance.

On Oct. 13 at 3:13 a.m.: Isael Febres, 33, of Somerville, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after officers were dispatched to a noise complaint on Church Street. Officers discovered Febres in his vehicle with the music playing at a loud level. Febres was released pending a court appearance.

On Oct. 13: Cathy Taylor, 59, of Philadelphia and Tyrone Wade, 47 of Philadelphia, were both charged with theft, credit card fraud and fraudulent use of a scanning device following a theft at Panera Bread in July. The charges are a result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division. Warrants have been issued for their arrest.

On Oct. 22 at 12:02 p.m.: Jamal Hanna, 40, of Raritan, was arrested following a pedestrian stop on Del Rocco Court. Officers were aware Hanna had an arrest warrant for lewdness prior to the stop. Hanna was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.

On Oct. 25 at 2:28 a.m.: Jairon Salazar, 48, of Raritan, was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on First Ave. Salazar was released pending a court appearance.

On Oct. 26 at 1:29 a.m.: Danielle Licht, 26, of Raritan, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after officers saw an occupied vehicle with damage consistent with a collision in the parking lot of the Raritan Mall on Route 206. Licht was released pending a court appearance.

On Oct. 28 at 4:04 a.m.: Walt Li, 47, no known address, was arrested for trespassing at the Quick Chek on the Somerville Traffic Circle after officers were dispatched there for a disorderly person complaint. Li had been previously trespassed from the business. Li was released pending a court appearance.

During this time period, four other people were arrested for traffic warrants, domestic violence or crimes investigated with the help of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
