Company to Move 25 Manufacturing Jobs Out of Bridgewater

As many as 25 jobs will be lost as manufacturing work making plastic films at the Davis-Standard company, on Adamsville Road, are moved to the company's Fulton, N.Y., factory, according to reporting in the Plastics News. 

Davis-Standard LLC has been manufacturing in the Egan blown and cast film factory in Bridgewater, which also houses the company's engineering, project management and aftermarket service operations—which the Plastic News article said would stay in Bridgewater.

The company manufactures blown plastic, the kind of plastic sheeting used for wrapping. According to the report, Pawcatuck, Conn.-based Davis-Standard bought the Egan Machinery Division of John Brown Inc., which was started in 1946 by Frank Egan in his house. Egan had pioneered developments in the process of manufacturing plastics "and became a major force in blown film for the converting equipment industry."

Davis-Standard is owned by Canadian private equity firm Onex Corp.

The announcement was made Monday, and the company's HR vice-president is quoted as noting the company offered jobs at the Fulton plant to those affected by the change. 

Davis-Standard said the move will consolidate its manufacturing processes.
