Emergency Deck Repairs On Bridge Over D&R Canal In South Bound Brook

Drivers can expect a lane closure with alternating traffic on Wednesday night.

SOUTH BOUND BROOK, NJ — Emergency deck repairs to the Main Street/County Route 527 Bridge over the D&R Canal is scheduled on Wednesday night, announced the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Beginning at 8 p.m. on April 23, the southbound lane on the Main Street/CR 527 Bridge over the D&R Canal in South Bound Brook is scheduled to be closed for emergency repairs to the deck grating.

One lane will be maintained with alternating traffic.

Work is expected to be completed on Thursday morning. Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down and expect delays.

Main Street/CR 527 carries traffic between South Bound Brook and Bound Brook over two separate bridges – one spans the D&R Canal and the other crosses the Raritan River. The bridges have one lane in each direction. Only the bridge over the canal, which is about 90 feet in length, requires repairs.
