FedEx Driver Loses Consciousness, Crashes Into Tree At Bridgewater Shopping Center: Police

The 74-year-old Toms River man suffered a medical emergency before the crash outside Ulta Beauty on Wednesday.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A FedEx truck driver suffered a medical emergency before crashing into a tree at Chimney Rock Crossing in Bridgewater on Wednesday.

At around 2:45 p.m., a crash was reported in the Ulta Beauty parking lot, at 352 Chimney Rock Road.

Preliminary findings indicate that FedEx truck driver Kenneth Larson, 74, of Toms River was parked along the curb in front of the store when he suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness.

As a result, the truck rolled forward and hit a tree.

A passenger in the vehicle, William Dorsey, 38, of New Brunswick, was not injured. Dorsey was able to help bring the truck to a stop after Larson became unresponsive, said Traffic Safety Officer Joseph Greco.

Larson was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for medical treatment.

Members of the Green Knoll Volunteer Rescue Squad and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Paramedics also came to provide emergency care.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
