Man Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver On I-78 On Somerset County Border: NJSP

The crash happened on Monday night and remains under investigation.

READINGTON, NJ — A man standing on the shoulder of Interstate 78 was killed when he was hit by an unknown vehicle during a hit-and-run in Readington on Monday, said New Jersey State Police(NJSP) Trooper Christopher Postorino.

On Monday at around 7:55 p.m., NJSP Troopers went to a motor vehicle crash on I-78 West at milepost 23.5 in Readington Township, Hunterdon County.

Based on a preliminary investigation, Marshall Vizinat, a 57-year-old man from Baton Rouge, LA, was standing outside his tractor-trailer, which was parked on the right shoulder of I-78, when an unknown vehicle driving west entered the shoulder and hit him.

The vehicle did not remain at the scene and continued westbound, said Postorino.

As a result of the crash, Vizinat sustained fatal injuries.
