New Indian Grocery Store Coming To Somerset County

The supermarket will transform the 32,000 square foot space to offer fresh produce, authentic Indian groceries and a pharmacy.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A new Indian grocery store is coming to the Somerset County area.

Patidar Supermarket told Patch they will be opening in the former Buy Buy Baby location at 711 Route 28 in Bridgewater, off the Somerville Circle.

The supermarket will transform the 32,000 square foot space to offer "fresh produce, authentic Indian groceries, unbeatable prices, and a shopping experience like no other."

The grocery store is planning to open in September with an open-style kitchen and pharmacy, said Patidar.

"Bridgewater, here we come! We’re thrilled to bring Patidar Supermarket to your neighborhood!" wrote Patidar Supermarket.

Currently, Patidar has locations in North Brunswick, East Windsor, and Hillsborough, and plans to open new locations in Bridgewater and Old Bridge.

Buy Buy Baby formally closed in 2023 after Bed Bath & Beyond, which is headquartered in Union, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on April 23, 2023, listing its estimated assets and liabilities at a value of up to $10 billion.

The store then reopened in November 2023.

Dream On Me Industries — a longtime supplier of baby goods for Buy Buy Baby — bought the leases of the 11 stores in the northeast in July at a bankruptcy-run auction for about $1.17 million, CNBC reports. Buy Buy Baby ultimately closed once more at the end of 2024.
