Scout Looks To Transform Bridgewater-Raritan High School Bridge
Brendan Kempe, a senior at BRHS, is collecting funds to help clean up and paint the bridge as part of his Eagle Scout project.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Brendan Kempe, a senior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, is looking to transform the bridge leading to the senior parking lot and athletic facility as part of his Eagle Scout project.
"I chose the bridge because it’s a spot I and many others use, and it's something that's been a point of complaint on many people's minds, mine included," said Kempe. "I wanted my project to give back to my school and classmates in a meaningful way. By making it safer and generally much more fitting for the campus's improved appearance."
Kempe has been scouting since 2016, starting as a Cub Scout before crossing over to Troop 90 in Branchburg in early 2019.

As part of his project, Kempe plans to repaint the bridge, refill the chunks of missing pavement on it, install solar-powered lighting so it’s safer at night, and landscape the area with perennials.
"These improvements will make the bridge much less of an eyesore for the campus and improve safety, especially for non-foot traffic, by filling in the dips," said Kempe. "We have major renovations happening all over campus, and I feel like this will fit into those plans well by bringing the bridge to the level of our athletic fields and buildings."

To complete his vision, Kempe is fundraising to cover the cost of supplies and the solar lights with a goal of around $1,200.
Kempe accepts cash, checks, and Venmo @Colleen-Kempe. For questions, email Kempe's parents at reagan328@gmail.com or joekempe@gmail.com.
"I hope that my project will not only help students now and for years to come, but also allow me to give back to the community and school that gave, and continues to give, so much to me," said Kempe.
