Somerset County Man Had Child Sexual Abuse Photos, Arrested: Prosecutor

SOUTH BOUND BROOK, NJ — A South Bound Brook man was charged after police say he used social media to talk to a 14-year-old girl and have her send sexually explicit photos.

Luis Stylianakis, 24, of South Bound Brook, was charged with third-degree possession of child sexual abuse materials, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree distribution of obscene materials to a minor, announced Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

In September, Huntley Police in Illinois notified the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit of an investigation that began in April 2024, involving a 14-year-old girl communicating and exchanging explicit photographs via a social media platform with a person believed to live in South Bound Brook, said McDonald.

Further investigation led to the identification of Stylianakis as the person communicating with the minor via a social media platform and possessing child sexual abuse materials, according to authorities.

On Oct. 21, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office detectives, along South Bound Brook Police, went to Stylianakis’ home, where he was found and taken into custody without incident.

Stylianakis’ electronic devices were seized pending further forensic analysis and Stylianakis was taken to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office for processing.

Stylianakis was lodged at the Somerset County Jail and was later released from custody after making an appearance in Superior Court.
