Unconscious, Not Breathing Man Found In Car After Crashing Into Sign In Bridgewater: PD

The driver remains hospitalized in critical condition, said police on Friday.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A driver remains hospitalized in critical condition following a crash into a sign on Union Avenue(Route 28) on Thursday.

At around 3:20 p.m., Bridgewater Police were called to the area of 477 Union Ave. where they found a 2017 Lincoln MKC that had crashed into a large business sign on the property, said Bridgewater Police Sgt. Kevin Florczak.

The driver, Harrichan Ramroop, 72, of West Orange, was found unconscious and not breathing inside the vehicle, said Florczak.

Officers began CPR before Ramroop was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He remains in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation found that Ramroop was driving east on Union Avenue when his vehicle drifted left, crossed into the oncoming lane, left the roadway, and hit the sign.

The cause of the vehicle leaving the road is still under investigation.
