Falling on the last Monday of May each year, Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives while serving in the military. It's a federal holiday that many people get off from work, resulting in a three-day weekend.

Heal, Grow & Learn In The Garden

When: Saturday, May 25 - 9:00 a.m.
Where: A Healing Sanctuary, 179 Broadway, Newark, NJ 07104
What: Located 30 minutes from Bridgewater in Newark, participants can volunteer in the Steam Urban community garden, learn sustainable practices and connect with nature. This gardening event is open to all skill levels and helps contribute to a vibrant community space. This is an opportunity to make new friends on Memorial weekend and experience the therapeutic benefits of gardening.

Middlesex Borough Memorial Day Parade

When: Monday, May 27 - 10:00 a.m.
Where: Victor Crowell Park, 293 Lincoln Blvd., Middlesex, NJ 08846
What: The Middlesex Borough Recreation Department and American Legion Post 306 are hosting this year's Memorial Day Parade, located less than 15 minutes from Bridgewater. This traditional event honors fallen soldiers, and the procession will feature marching bands, veterans' groups and community organizations. The parade route starts at Victor Crowell Park and ends near American Legion Post 306.

45th Annual Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk

When: Monday, May 27 - 8:00 a.m. (Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.)
Where: Community Park, 2051 Route 130, North Brunswick Township, NJ 08902
What: Participate in the 45th Annual Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk, located less than 30 minutes from Bridgewater. This community event honors fallen soldiers while providing a fun and healthy activity for all ages. Choose between a 5K run or walk starting at Community Park, and enjoy a scenic course through North Brunswick Township.

Memorial Day Meditation & QiGong

When: Monday, May 27 - 6:30 p.m.
Where: Wharton Public Library, 15 South Main Street, Wharton, NJ 07885
What: Learn to meditate and experience the benefits of QiGong with instructor Kevin Kuo from White Deer Meditation. This session combines guided meditation with slow, focused movements to promote relaxation, improve balance and enhance well-being. Located 30 minutes from Bridgewater, this free event will take place at the Wharton Public Library.
