Attempted Home Burglary Under Investigation In Chatham

On Tuesday, June 13, just after 11:00 p.m., two suspects attempted to break into an occupied Chandler Road home.

CHATHAM, NJ — A recent burglary attempt, which the Chatham Borough Police Department has highlighted, has caused patrol units to increase their focus on residential coverage in specific areas of the community.

On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, shortly after 11 p.m., two suspects attempted to break into an occupied Chandler Road home for the second time in less than two months, ostensibly to steal two cars from their driveway.

According to police, the suspects tried to enter the house through the front door, but it was locked.

Both suspects then fled on foot towards Washington Avenue, fortunately without breaking into the house or stealing any vehicles.

"Please remember to stay vigilant and secure your homes, garages, and vehicles. Make sure you have your surveillance cameras set to provide you with immediate notification when people approach your home. Additionally, please always activate your home and vehicle burglar alarm systems," police said.

In light of the recent events, police have said that they will deploy additional resources and equipment to the Chandler Road and Upper Washington Ave area.
