Chatham Fencers Part Of USA Fencing All-Academic Team

Chatham High School was also recognized as having the greatest number of fencers from one high school on the All-Academic Team.

CHATHAM, NJ — About 1,000 fencers from across the country are not only being recognized for their fencing skills, but their academic performances as well, a number from Chatham among the ranks.

The All-Academic Team, according to a news release from USA Fencing, is the largest class in the organization’s history.

There is a “First Team” for fencers with grade point averages at 3.85 or greater. The “Second Team” is made up of fencers with their GPAs within the 3.4 to 3.84 range.

Chatham High School received a special honor for having 21 fencers within the two teams, with 10 fencers being the minimum threshold for this type of recognition. The high schools that were ranked second and third were Baylor School with 16 and Harvard-Westlake School with 10.
