Chatham Schools Experience Some Supply Chain Issue Impacts

Service to students hasn't been disrupted, said the district's superintendent, though some food and paper products are harder to acquire.

CHATHAM, NJ — School District of the Chathams Superintendent Dr. Michael LaSusa recently addressed the nationwide supply chain issue and whether or not it is impacting food service provisions for Chatham's students.

Board of Education Member Michael Ryan asked LaSusa the question prior to the last Board of Education meeting about the supply chain impact, LaSusa said, suggesting LaSusa share his response with the public during the last Board of Education meeting.

LaSusa said, "The short answer is we’re [the district] being affected by the supply chain issues,” citing the district’s food service provider, Chartwells, is having difficulties securing some food items and particular paper products.

However, LaSusa clarified, “To this point, that has not disrupted service to students.”

“It’s just altered some of the materials that they’re using to serve students and limited some of the choices that they otherwise might have.” LaSusa continued.

LaSusa said that at this stage, Chartwells hasn’t experienced a “significant interruption so far.”
