Chatham's Fourth Of July Parade, Fireworks Set For Main Street

Borough resident of 50 years will Grand Marshal the event.

Chatham, N.J. – It’s that time of year again, when Chatham comes together as a community to celebrate Independence Day.

Details of the annual Chatham Fire Department Association’s Fourth of July Celebration have been released, and will begin with a flag-raising and fire department inspection at 9:15 a.m. on July 4 at the borough firehouse.

That will be followed by a parade procession at 10:30 a.m. beginning at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Main Street, continuing down the road toward Chatham Middle School.

This year’s parade includes 10 bands, nine fire departments, and many community organizations.

Main Street will be closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fireworks will be held that night at 9:30 p.m., or at dark. A rain date for the fireworks only is scheduled for the same time on July 5. Fireworks will take place at Chatham Middle School and gates will open at 7 p.m. Live music by the Bob Campanell Band will play before the fireworks.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Richard Ligertwood, a 50-year resident of Chatham Borough. Ligertwood has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 8 in Chatham for 45 years.
