Drunk Driver With Kid In Car Crashes In Chatham: Police
Amarra Awan, 30, of Montville, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, and driving while intoxicated.
CHATHAM, NJ — A Morris County woman was driving drunk on Monday night with a child in the car when she crashed in Chatham Township, police said.
The driver, Amarra Awan, 30, of Montville, and the 16-year-old child in the car were both injured in the crash and taken to Morristown Medical Center, police chief Thomas Miller said.
According to local authorities, at 8:09 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, police were notified of a car crash with injuries at the 200 block of Southern Boulevard in the township. Sergeant Ronald Anderson, the responding officer, continued the investigation, which found that Awan was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Police said that Awan has since been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated, possessing an open container of alcohol and additional traffic violations.
Following the crash, Awan was arrested and taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility, pending an initial hearing.
