Enjoy Valentine Special Menu Items In Chatham

A "Lover's Sampler" dessert at one restaurant includes red velvet cheesecake, hazelnut chocolate mousse and chocolate-dipped strawberries.

CHATHAM, NJ — With Valentine’s Day on Monday, restaurants in and near Chatham are offering meal and drink specials, along with regular menu items.

Restaurant Serenade on 6 Roosevelt Ave. has a special Valentine’s Day prix-fixe menu. Waygu slide, potato soup, smoked salmon and Osetra caviar are some of the menu’s first course. Ravioli with beef short ribs, black truffles and parmesan foam are part of the second course. Entrees are roasted halibut with a Thai-emulsion or grilled, prime sirloin of beef with potato pancake, creamed spinach, Thumbelina carrots and Cipollini onions. There are exquisite dessert offerings including the “Lover’s Sampler," with red velvet cheesecake, hazelnut chocolate mousse and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Scalini Fedeli on 63 Main St. is known for its elegant and award-winning cuisine. The regular dinner menu, with the restaurant open on Valentine’s Day, offers a four-course, prix-fixe option. Ecuadorian shrimp with seasonal vegetables is among the appetizers, along with a specialty risotto. Red snapper with sautéed oyster mushrooms, thinly-sliced duck with truffle reduction, a boneless veal chop served Milanese-style and braised beef short ribs, are on the restaurant’s regular menu. Valentine-appropriate desserts include the crispy banana tart, chocolate soufflé, bittersweet chocolate truffle cake with cherries and a Mascarpone and ricotta torte with red wine and balsamic-marinated strawberries. D'Oro Ristorante at 219 Main St. is open for both lunch and dinner. On the restaurant's regular menu, there are a range of pasta, seafood, chicken and vegetarian house specialty options. The lunch menu includes fresh mussels and littleneck clams for appetizers. Pasta e fagiole is among the soup menu. Grilled seasonal vegetables and goat cheese share space together on one of the lunch salads. Homemade ravioli with five cheeses and spinach is one of the lunch pastas. Seared sea scallops with roasted artichoke, garlic aioli sauce and pecorino cheese, is one of the seafood dishes. Chicken Sorrentina has prosciutto, eggplant, mozzarella cheese and cherry wine sauce. One of the house specialties is Italian eggplant with fresh tomato sauce, baked with fresh mozzarella. The Shop in Chatham’s Supper Club celebrated its opening day on Saturday, with a prix-fixe Valentine's menu. The restaurant, at 465 Main St., is open on Monday with its regular, creative menu items of pizza, pasta and panino, representatives of The Shop told Patch. Charley’s Aunt at 8 South Passaic Ave. has a range of menu choices on its regular menu, that would be perfect for a relaxing meal on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant is also open on Monday. Grilled Portobello mushrooms, zucchini fritti, cajun baby shrimp and the restaurant’s loaded nachos, are some of the special items. There are specialty salads to choose from, with chopped grilled chicken and other toppings. The restaurant’s steak burgers and signature burgers, are other menu favorites. There are specialty sandwiches and basket meals, including fish and steak fries. Pastas include spaghetti carbonara and penne primavera. Enjoy a bone-in, rib-eye steak and other entrees. A Taste of Asia at 245 Main St., is normally closed on Mondays, but is open for Valentine's Day and closed on Tuesday. In addition to the regular menu, there is a special tasting menu for a minimum of two people, which is also part of the Chinese New Year Celebration. It starts off with Yee Sang, a salmon and vegetable dish. The meal continues with dumpling soup. The first course includes a choice of flash-fried tilapia, Grand Marnier shrimp or braised shitake mushroom selection. The second course is sichuan spicy chicken, black pepper pork medallion or udon stir fry with shrimp and beef. The sweet ending for the meal is a fresh fruit platter.
