ICYMI: Bicyclist Critical After Struck By Chatham Teen Driver: Cops

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – A bicyclist riding through a busy intersection in Florham Park last Saturday was struck and critically injured by a teen driver, police said.

At 2:55 p.m. on June 4 Florham Park Police received multiple calls reporting a bicyclist had been struck by a car at the intersection of Columbia Turnpike and Hanover Road.

Officers responded to the scene and began caring for the rider, identified as a 43-year-old male from Livingston, police said.

An investigation showed the cyclist was traveling north on Hanover Road crossing over Columbia Turnpike with the green signal when he was struck by a 2015 Toyota Corolla, which was being driven by a 17-year-old from Chatham, police said.

The driver was turning left from Hanover Road southbound onto Columbia Turnpike eastbound when the crash occurred, police said.

The cyclist was taken to Morristown Medical Center by the Florham Park First Aid Squad in critical condition.
