Masked Men Try To Break Into Chatham Home: Police

The two men eventually fled in a small black SUV towards Fairmount Avenue, Chatham Township police said.

CHATHAM, NJ — Police are investigating an attempted break-in that happened early Wednesday at a Chatham Township home.

According to police, two masked individuals attempted to break into a home on Westminster Road through a back window at roughly 2:33 a.m. this morning. The two men were allegedly deterred when the burglar alarm went off as they attempted to enter the house.

Both suspects are described as men who are dressed in hoodies, masks, and gloves. One suspect was dressed in dark sweatpants, police said.

The two men fled the scene in a little black SUV in the direction of Fairmount Avenue. The car they were driving was later discovered to be stolen and abandoned by authorities in a nearby jurisdiction.

"Please remember to always lock your home and set your home’s burglar alarm," police said.
