Sex Assault, Trafficking Arrest Made At Morris County School Field: Prosecutor

Authorities say a 25-year-old man allegedly provided narcotics to two underage victims in exchange for sexual favors.

CHATHAM, NJ — A 25-year-old Newark man was charged with human trafficking for allegedly recruiting and luring two minors via text messages, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.

Nafis H. Wiggins has been charged with two counts of human trafficking, two counts of luring, five counts of sexual assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count of possession of a CDS with intent to distribute and one count of possession of a CDS.

According to authorities, between Aug. 1 and Sept. 28, 2023, Wiggins allegedly provided narcotics to two victims, ages 14 and 15, in exchange for sexual favors, recruiting and luring the two minors via text.

Police allege that on several occasions, Wiggins met with the victims at locations in Chatham Township and Chatham Borough and drove them both to more secluded areas to engage in drug use and sexual activity.

On Dec. 19, in a joint investigation with the Chatham Township Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office’s Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit, Wiggins was arrested at Cougar Field in Chatham Township.

According to Carroll, at the time of his arrest, Wiggins was found with CDS.

Wiggins was detained at the Morris County Correctional Facility after a detention hearing under the Criminal Justice Reform Act.
