The three companies donated 46,085 pounds of food to the Food Bank of South Jersey through a partnership with Feeding America. Food insecurity heightened throughout the pandemic, and Feeding America foodbanks – like the Food Bank of South Jersey – struggled to keep up with demand.

Representatives from each of the organizations visited the Food Bank of South Jersey today to volunteer, deliver the donation and tour the facility. As part of this partnership, Walmart, Bimbo Bakeries USA and Tyson Foods donated 5,000 pounds of bread and 41,085 pounds of protein that will be given to individuals and families over the coming weeks.

“We are so thankful to our corporate partners for this generous donation,” said Greg Loder, Food Bank of South Jersey’s Director of Marketing and Advocacy. “The last few years have created extra difficulties for families, many of whom never thought they’d be in these situations. Donations like this help us keep up with the increased demand brought on by recent health and economic crises to ensure that no one goes hungry.”

The Food Bank of South Jersey exists to provide an immediate solution to the urgent problem of hunger by providing food to people in need, teaching them to eat nutritiously, and helping them to find sustainable ways to improve their lives. Last year alone, FBSJ distributed 17.9 million pounds of food, feeding 59,000+ people per month through their 200 agency partners.

Through its partnerships and individual donations, Feeding America – the largest domestic hunger relief organization in the United States – provides food to millions of Americans through a network of 200 member food banks and 60,000 partner agencies.
