Help Clean Up Croft Farm for National Public Lands Day
Cherry Hill is part of the annual nationwide effort Saturday.

Break out the work gloves and plan to spend a few hours outdoors—National Public Lands Day is Saturday, and Cherry Hill officials have plenty of open space projects that can use some help in the annual day of volunteer service.
Whether it’s helping improve Croft Farm, working on the Kresson trails or just helping clean up a park near your neighborhood, township officials are asking residents to pitch in a hand.
“National Public Lands Day is an opportunity for all residents to share in the stewardship of Cherry Hill’s open space, and to help nurture and protect our local environment and natural resources,” said Mayor Chuck Cahn.

This will be the township’s eighth year participating in the effort, which spans 2,200 sites across the country. The township will focus on Croft Farm, officials said, with volunteers requested for a 9 a.m.-noon effort.
It won’t stop there, however—other volunteers will sample water along the Cooper River as part of World Water Monitoring Day, and clean up along the watershed as part of the inaugural Cooper River Fest.

Officials said they’ll provide support, including cleanup supplies and trash bags, to people who want to tackle park beautification efforts in their neighborhoods, as well.
“The more hands we have on deck, the broader our reach will be this Public Lands Day—and the greater the impact will be on our community,” Cahn said. “There are countless volunteers who work throughout the year to improve these shared spaces, and I hope our efforts will inspire others to come forward to help keep Cherry Hill clean and green.”
Registration for the Croft Farm effort is requested, though not required—to register to participate at Croft, or for information about putting together your own effort, e-mail Recreation@chtownship.com or call 856-488-7868.
