2-Year-Old Died In Cherry Hill With Fentanyl In System: Officials

A NJ man has been charged in the death of a two-year-old girl after she was found with cocaine and fentanyl in her system, authorities said.

CHERRY HILL, NJ - A Cherry Hill man has been charged in the death of a two-year-old girl last month after she was found with cocaine and fentanyl in her system, authorities said.

Walter H. Clark, 27, was charged with aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation into the girl’s death, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf said in a joint statement.

On July 23, 2022, at approximately 7:46 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a residence on the 300 block of Evergreen Avenue in Cherry Hill for a report of a 2-year-old who was not breathing. At the scene, a 2-year-old female was found unconscious and was transported to Cooper University Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 9:06 p.m.

An investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Cherry Hill Police Department Investigative Unit found that there was a positive result for cocaine and fentanyl in the child’s system. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the home near where the child was found unresponsive.

As a result of the investigation, Clark was arrested and charged. He is currently in custody at the Camden County Jail, authorities said.
