Delran Woman's Path To Pastry Success Goes Through Disney, RCBC

DELRAN, NJ — It took more than a year and more than one try, but a Rowan College at Burlington County alum from Delran is pursuing her dream of being a pastry chef through the Disney College Program.
Miranda Seguin initially applied for the program in January 2020, two months before the coronavirus pandemic shut down life across the country. She was accepted, but she never got the chance to take advantage of her opportunity, according to Rowan College at Burlington County.
Then, several months ago, Disney encouraged those who lost the opportunity to join last year to reapply.

“I reapplied in March, and I was accepted by the end of March,” Seguin said. “I started my college program on June 15, and I am an attractions cast member at Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom! I couldn’t be more excited to have my foot in the door.”
The path to that front door began when Seguin enrolled at Rowan College at Burlington County as a pastry arts major. She chose the college due to its local convenience, reasonable tuition and highly-touted culinary program, she said.

“I knew RCBC had a wonderful culinary and pastry program, so that was one of the reasons I wanted to go to RCBC compared to other schools in the area,” Seguin said. “Plus, I took out loans and going to RCBC really helped keep costs down.”
Her dream job involves working in the bakeries at Disney World, and she feels prepared by her time at Rowan College at Burlington County.
“I couldn’t have asked for better chef instructors,” Seguin said. “My pastry classes were the highlight of my week. I loved working with my peers to create delicious treats.”
