“Car theft has dramatically increased over the past several months, not just in Linden but across the state,” Linden Police Chief David Hart said. “I am incredibly proud of the work that leads to arrests like this, but we cannot stop this trend alone. An overwhelming number of these cars were stolen while they were left running, and we will not realize a drop in these crimes until people start locking their car doors and stop leaving their cars running unattended.”
Jones was charged with third degree receiving stolen property. He was committed to the Union County Jail pending a scheduled appearance in Superior Court.
