The barbecue joint, serving a variety of smoked meats and beer on tap, opens in Union on Thursday, with plans to expand into Hoboken.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — The barbecue chain Mighty Quinn's is having its grand opening in Union on Thursday — serving everything from brisket and pulled pork to mac and cheese and cornbread.

The new restaurant is opening at 1105 Morris Avenue in the Shoppes at Vermella plaza — right near Kean University's campus. This Union location is Mighty Quinn's third New Jersey location, and a fourth is planned for Hoboken.

The chain's other two locations are in Clifton and Newark, at the Prudential Center.

The franchise owner, Arush Pandya, told NJ Advance Media that he was familiar with the area and wanted to open a store there because of the "tremendous amount of redevelopment that is happening in Union."

Pandya's franchise originated in Brooklyn in 2012 and now operates 12 restaurants total throughout New Jersey, New York and Dubai. The chain plans to expand to Florida and Maryland, as well, according to its website.

Mighty Quinn's menu features a wide variety of smoked meats — from brisket to ribs, pulled pork and spicy wings — as well as sides, such as sweet corn fritters, mac and cheese, roasted sweet potatoes and more. The new joint also offers beer on tap and hard ciders.

The Union store will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
