'Devastating Fire' Injures Police Officer, Displaces Residents In Clark

The three-alarm fire brought in help from neighboring Union County fire companies on Monday.

CLARK, NJ — A "devastating fire" has displaced residents and injured a Clark Township Police Officer on Monday.

The three-alarm fire was reported around 3:49 p.m. at a home at 14 Blake Drive, bringing in fire departments from neighboring Union County towns to help.

The first officers on scene reported a fully involved structure fire, and all occupants were safely out of the home, said Clark Police Det. Captain Christian Lott.

The Clark Fire Department responded with mutual aid help from the Roselle, Linden, Cranford,
Rahway and Union Fire Departments.

The fire was brought under control by 5:30 p.m.

One Clark police officer was taken to the hospital by ambulance for smoke inhalation. The officer was treated and released, said Lott.

"The Mayor and Council of Clark are deeply saddened by this afternoon's devastating fire that has impacted our community. Our hearts and prayers are with the residents who have been displaced and affected by this tragedy, and we stand in full support of our dedicated first responders," wrote Clark Township.
