Gunfight At Union Co. Bar Leaves Man In Critical Condition: Police

A man was shot in the chest following a gunfight that broke out at a Union County bar early Wednesday morning, according to police.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — A Springfield man is in critical condition after gunfight broke out early Wednesday morning at a bar in Hillside, according to police.

The gunfight took place outside of Tanky's Bar & Grill on 330 Long Avenue at around 1:30 a.m., Hillside Police said. Three men were involved in the fight, and one of them — 44-year old Kaseem Sutton — was shot in the torso.

Police said after he was shot, Sutton drove himself to University Hospital in Newark with another shooter in the passenger seat. Sutton is in critical but stable condition, according to police.

The third shooter ran way and fled in a dark colored SUV a block away, police said.

Hillside police detectives are investigating the incident and have already made significant progress, according to an announcement. They said they expect to resolve this case in "short order."
