Union Co. School ‘Medical Concern’ Prompted Shelter-In-Place Monday
A reported medical concern Monday morning raised questions about air quality safety at the Union County school, the mayor said.
RAHWAY, NJ – A reported medical concern Monday morning raised questions about air quality safety at Madison Elementary School in Rahway, mayor Raymond A. Giacobbe said.
Details regarding the nature of the medical concern were not immediately available.
The school was instructed to shelter-in-place while air quality inspections were conducted throughout the building by the Fire Department, Union County Hazmat and Elizabethtown Gas, Giacobbe said in a statement later that day.

Inspection results determined that the air quality in the school was, in fact, safe, and the reported medical concern was deemed an “unrelated incident,” the mayor said.
Students and faculty resumed the school day after the building was rendered safe.
