Vehicle Center In Union County Has Grand Opening At Strip Mall

The Springfield Vehicle Center has moved locations and had its grand opening at the Springfield strip mall on Route 22 Wednesday morning.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Springfield Vehicle Center has moved to a larger facility in the Springfield Plaza strip mall, and it is now open for business.

The Center had its grand opening on Wednesday and was welcomed with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Chief Administrator Sue Fulton was joined by state and local official for the grand opening. This new location is conveniently located on Route 22, and it has more room to serve customers, additional parking spaces and easier highway access.

The NJ Motor Vehicle Commission had previously said they had outgrown the location at 34 Center Street and that it had limited parking.

  • total area of 6,800 square feet, 21% bigger than the current Center
  • 84 free public parking spaces in the parking lot, compared to the metered parking in a small municipal lot available currently
  • 30% more customer service windows for vehicle transactions
  • 33% more ID Check windows
  • a more efficient agency layout with brand-new modular furnishings

Customers can start booking appointments at the new Springfield Vehicle Center at NJMVC.gov. The types of vehicle transactions available at Springfield and all other Vehicle Centers include:

  • new titles or registrations
  • registration renewals (when not eligible for online renewal)
  • license plate transactions
  • replacement titles or registrations

You can visit the new center at 271 Route 22 East. Its hours are as follows:

Monday: 8AM–4:30PM

Tuesday: 8AM–4:30PM

Wednesday: 8AM–4:30PM

Thursday: 8AM–4:30PM

Friday: 8AM–4:30PM

Saturday: 8AM–3PM

Sunday: Closed
