Cranford Halloween Tradition Returning For 25th Year

CRANFORD, NJ — Back for its 25th year, the annual Cranford Halloween Costume Contest, Parade, and Pumpkin Chunkin festival at the Cranford Community Center on Oct. 26.

Beginning at 1 p.m., everyone is invited to gather for the costume contest at the Libary/Community Center Parking Lot. Judging will begin at 1:50 p.m. for multiple categories in age brackets up to 17.

Families and groups are also welcome to enter as "Best Duo or Trio," and "Best Group." The judging will begin at 1:50 p.m.

Entrants can also preregister online to save time when they arrive.

The day continues with the annual parade that starts at 2 p.m. and is followed by the "Pumpkin Chunkin" event at the downtown gazebo on North Union Avenue.

The annual festival is a memorial to lifelong Cranford resident and businessman Brian Jenkins. He was also a member of the Cranford Jaycees, a group that has been serving the community for more than 60 years through fundraising and events.

This year's Halloween festivities are being co-hosted by the Cranford Jaycees and Cranford Recreation & Parks Department.

The Cranford Community Center is located at 220 Walnut Ave.
