A look back at the week that celebrated Cranford Patch's one-month birthday.
Cranford gets competitive this week as the boys soccer team obtains top seed in a county tournament, kids sink their lures for the biggest fish, and residents spar against town officials over the location for a skate park. Here's a look at the events and issues that made the news:
Saturday, September 26:
- Cranford's volleyball team wins its first match in the Bloomfield Invitational, but loses to Pascack Hills in the quarterfinals.
- Lady Cougars rebound from their devastating loss to Westfield to score a 5-0 win against Union Catholic.

- Lance's $180K funding request passes the House and moves on to the Senate. The funds would go towards making Cranford more energy efficient.

- North Plainfield suffers yet another loss at the hands of the Cougars.
- Boys soccer secure the top seed position in the county tournament with yet another win. They remain undefeated this season.
Friday, October 2:

- County officials are puzzled about the town's intention to consider a Lenape skeet range as site for a skate park. They cite a number of environmental concerns.
Saturday, October 3:
