Christmas Eve Robber Arrested, Charged: Cranford Police
A man was arrested and charged with robbery after a woman was robbed in front of her Cranford home on Christmas Eve last year.
CRANFORD, NJ — A man was arrested and charged with robbing a Collins Street home on Christmas Eve morning, Cranford Police announced Thursday.
Jerry Robinson, 44, of Jersey City was charged with robbery, burglary and theft on Wednesday after a month-long investigation by Cranford Police.
The Collins Street resident was unloading groceries from her vehicle into her garage when she was grabbed from behind and forcibly thrown to the ground by a man, later identified as Robinson. He then ran off with her purse and witnesses saw him fleeing the scene in a Black Nissan Murano.

Cranford Detectives Jordan, Gerrity, D’Agostino and Trotter worked with multiple law enforcement agencies throughout the State to identify the man as Robinson.
After securing and executing three separate search warrants for Robinson’s home, car and cell phones, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office approved the criminal charges against Robinson.

Robinson was sent to Hudson County Jail, awaiting a bail hearing.
Chief Ryan J. Greco commended all involved in this investigation.
“The cooperation between the victim, witnesses, investigating detectives, and multiple police agencies led to the successful resolution and conclusion to this violent crime,” Greco said.
