'Souperhero Stroll' Returns To Cranford This Weekend

Families are invited to stroll through Cranford to view the superhero balloon structures, as well as try some tasty soups this weekend.

CRANFORD, NJ — It's a bird... it's a plane... it's the Souperhero Stroll — back for another year in Cranford.

For the second year, Downtown Cranford is partnering with Cranford High School to bring back the Souperhero Stroll — a town-wide event that features superhero balloon sculptures created by Dream Factory Balloons, as well as a variety of soup tastings offered by local Cranford restaurants.

The event will take place Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. Both kids and adults are encouraged to dress for the occasion by wearing a cape or coming as their favorite superhero.

Those who did order tickets can be picked them up at Eastman Clock Plaza —across from Track 5 Coffee — starting at 11 a.m on the day of the event.

All of the proceeds from Souperhero Stroll will go toward Cranford High School Project Graduation, which is a drug and alcohol-free post graduation celebration for the high school seniors put on by a committee of parent volunteers in conjunction with the Parent Teacher Student Association.

According to the event's website, since 1989, this celebration has been held on the night of graduation as an organized, chaperoned alternative to student-run events which may involve drugs or alcohol.

Downtown Cranford will also be hosting a selfie contest at the Souperhero Stroll. Participants who snap a selfie with the balloons can win a $25 Downtown Cranford gift card. Bonus points will be awarded if someone in the photo is dressed as a superhero.

People can email their selfies to DMC@cranfordnj.org with their name and mailing address.

The event will be held rain, snow or shine.
