Social Media Threat Causes Evacuation At Cranford High School
Cranford Superintendent Scott Rubin informed the community of a threatening Twitter post, which was later found to be "not credible."
CRANFORD, NJ — A threatening social media post was brought to the attention of Cranford High School administration on Tuesday, causing all after-school activities to be canceled and the building to be evacuated and searched.
Cranford Superintendent Dr. Scott Rubin sent an email to the school community Tuesday night and said the incident was reported to the Cranford Police Department who identified the author of the post and determined that the threat was not credible.
Rubin said while working with the legal team at Twitter and other social media platforms to identify the source of this comment, all after-school activities at the high school were canceled out of caution, and the building was evacuated and searched. The search did not yield anything concerning.

"We cannot thank the Cranford Police Department enough for all they do to keep our school community as well as the community at large safe — we are truly fortunate!" Rubin wrote.
Last week, threatening words were also found inside a bathroom stall at Hillside Avenue School in Cranford. The threat was deemed not credible after a shelter-in-place was issued.
