East Brunswick Patrolman Graduates from Northwestern

Police Lieutenant graduates from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University.

The East Brunswick Police Department announced the graduation of Lt. James Conroy from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University.

Lt. Conroy has successfully completed the ten week Staff and Command program held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from February 13 to June 15, 2012. The program, which was implemented by the Center of Public Safety in 1983, has graduated more than 9000 students both nationally and internationally.

The School of Police Staff and Command provides upper-level college instruction in 22 core or mandatory blocks of instruction and uses nine additional blocks of instruction during the session. The major topics of study include management and management theory, organizational behavior, human resources for law enforcement, budgeting, staff allocation and personnel deployment.

Each student is academically challenged through written examinations, projects and quizzes in addition to a Staff Study, all are requirements of the curriculum. Upon successful completion, students may be awarded eight units of undergraduate credit from Northwestern University.

Lt. Conroy, who also has a Bachelor’s Degree from Rider University and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Training and Development from Seton Hall University, is assigned as a Patrol Division Station Commander.
