Fireworks Warning Issued Ahead Of July 4 In East Brunswick
The police department said they will be taking a 'zero tolerance' approach to fireworks violations.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — As Independence Day approaches, East Brunswick Police is advising residents to be cautious when handling fireworks and other explosive devices. They have also warned residents against committing fireworks violations.
"The East Brunswick Police Department will be taking a 'Zero Tolerance' approach to fireworks violations," EBPD said.
In New Jersey, persons 16 or older may lawfully buy, possess, and use certain sparkling devices and novelties.

These permissible fireworks are limited to hand-held or ground-based sparklers, snakes, and glow worms; smoke devices; and trick noisemakers, including party poppers, snappers, and drop pops.
The sale, possession, and use of all other fireworks requires a valid permit.

Residents who have legal fireworks and feel the need to try them out, should be cautious and follow safety protocols.
"Don’t assume fireworks sold in a store are legal," EBPD warned.
