School of Rock to Open in East Brunswick

School of Rock hopes to become the newest member of the East Brunswick business community.

The rock and roll music school expects to open in a newly created space next to on Lexington Avenue.

Plans call for dividing the space with a firewall and renovating both the new area and Jack’s.

“I think it’s a great music town and it’s just a really cool area,” said VP of Marketing Mark Biondi, whose brother Joseph is opening the East Brunswick location. “We’re still in the construction phase, we’re sort of just separating the space and we’re hoping to be open in September. That’s what we’re shooting for.”

With 90 locations across the United States and more outside of the country, School of Rock provides afterschool music programs for kids and combines private lessons with hands on applications.

What that means is that kids get to “rock n roll.”

“We have kids perform real rock shows every few months. They’re a lot of fun and the kids like it,” said Biondi. “It just becomes a great thing. It adds the team element to music education that isn’t always there, and it uses rock and roll to motivate kids. It’s a lot of fun and creates a great, great community.”

Students at School of Rock perform at local charities and have been known to go on tours. School of Rock bands also have performed on the Warped Tour and Lollapalooza.
