Wild Weather, Another Drowning, 2 Cars Plough Into Houses: NJ Weekend
An NJ man drowned while swimming in the Delaware Water Gap and two people were injured in a hit-and-run over the weekend.

NEW JERSEY — Over the weekend, an NJ Fire Chief and his son had a close call when a car crashed into their home, and a cyclist was killed when they were struck by a car.
Cyclist Killed On Route 206
A 22-year-old cyclist from PA was killed on Route 206 in Sussex County on Saturday afternoon, New Jersey State Police said.
On Saturday, at 2:50 p.m., troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on US Highway 206 north milepost 125.3 in Sandyston Twp., Sussex County.

According to a preliminary investigation, a Nissan passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on US Highway 206. A cyclist was traveling northbound on US Highway 206 on the right shoulder.
In the area of milepost 125.3, the Nissan entered the right shoulder and hit the rear of the pedalcycle, police said.

The Nissan then continued to travel northbound, veering off the roadway to the left, colliding with a utility pole, and overturning.
As a result of the crash, the pedalcyclist, Damian Baranowski, a 22-year-old man from Milford, PA, sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the Nissan, Elizabeth Palacios Gotay, a 21-year-old woman from Bronx, NY, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, police said.
The crash is currently under investigation.
Child Killed In Multialarm Fire In Bayonne
A fire broke out in Bayonne on Monday morning, killing a child, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
The fire broke out at a home on Avenue C, officials said.
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are investigating.
2 Cars Crash Into Homes In South Brunswick
On Saturday, there were two separate crashes in which two cars struck different homes.
The first happened at 4:38 p.m. when South Brunswick Fire Chief Scott Smith and his young son had a close call.
The duo was in the living room when a car crashed into their Ridge Road home, just a few feet away from where they were sitting.
According to authorities, the 24-year-old driver had a seizure that caused the crash. The driver was taken to Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
The second crash took place around 5:18 p.m., on Andover Drive. Police said a driver was backing out of the driveway when they hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
As a result, they struck two air conditioning units and a home before finally coming to a rest in a backyard.
The 75-year-old driver from the second crash was uninjured, police said.
Both houses were inspected and deemed structurally sound.
NJ Man Drowns While Swimming In Delaware River Gap
An Ocean County man drowned while swimming in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area on Saturday.
According to witnesses, 24-year-old Jeysson Ariel Osorio-Reyes, of Jackson Township, was swimming mid-channel in the river, about 75 yards from the PA shoreline, before he disappeared under the water surface around 3:15 p.m., officials said.
His body was found around 7 p.m. on Saturday near Milford Beach.
National Park Service rangers and dive team members from Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and Upper Delaware National Scenic and Recreational River and volunteers were engaged in the search.
The combined search crews scoured the Delaware River, both above and below the surface, employing surface searches, teams of divers, and side scan sonar, officials said.
2 Seriously Injured In Jersey City Hit-&-Run
A man and woman were seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Jersey City early Saturday morning, Hudson County Prosecutor said.
The crash happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. near Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Avenue, according to Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
A 36-year-old East Orange man and a 26-year-old Newark woman were riding a moped when it was struck by a second vehicle, according to Suarez. The driver of the second vehicle then fled the scene, Suarez said.
Both victims were taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. Suarez said the vehicle that struck them was identified and later found.
Record Rainfall, Flash Flood Warnings In NJ
New Jersey was under an enhanced risk Sunday for severe thunderstorms, which brought record rainfall and flash flood warnings to the state.
The National Weather Service reported the Atlantic City Airport had set a record for new daily maximum rainfall on June 30 at 1.1 inches, nearly twice the previous record of 0.67 inches set in 2012, with any rain to come as the evening continued adding to the record.
There was a flash flood warning in place for Camden and Lindenwold until 9 p.m. People were advised to move to high ground and avoid walking or driving through floodwaters. Another warning was issued for Newark until 8 p.m.
"Another line of thunderstorms is now moving into the northern Delmarva and southern New Jersey," the service said in a social media post around 7:30 p.m. "For locations north of Philadelphia, the severe threat is now over."
