Baby Girl Dies After Being Left Unattended In Car: Morris Prosecutor

EAST HANOVER, NJ — Officials are investigating the death of a six-month-old girl in Morris County, after she was reportedly left unattended in a parked car.
East Hanover Police officers responded to a 911 call Wednesday at around 1:30 p.m., according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. A caller had reported the child was inside a vehicle near Route 10 and South Ridgedale Avenue.
Police and paramedics tried to save the child, but she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Officials said the baby's mother was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and did not go into further detail.

"At this time, preliminary information indicates the child was left unattended in the vehicle prior to death," authorities said.

No charges have been announced as of Friday afternoon, and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said that the cause and manner of the child's death are still to be determined.
"As this incident remains under investigation, no further comment will be made at this time," officials said.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, East Hanover Police Department, and Morris County Sheriff’s Office will continue investigating the girl's death.
East Hanover Police Chief Christopher F. Cannizzo asked the community to keep the child's family, and the first responders, in their thoughts and prayers.
